The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) have recognized the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration in the development of the apparel and textile industries of both countries. A delegation of TTF, led by its President Justin Huang, recently visited BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and discussed ways to build connections and facilitate meaningful business interactions between textile and apparel businessmen of Bangladesh and Taiwan.
Bangladesh is the second largest exporter of ready-made garments in the world and has a rapidly growing apparel industry. On the other hand, Taiwan is renowned for its strong textile industry, particularly in the production of non-cotton textiles such as man-made fibers, polyester filament, nylon fiber, and other fabrics. With Bangladesh focused on diversifying from cotton to non-cotton and value-added products, Taiwan’s strength in textile production could meet the growing demand of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector.
The BGMEA and TTF expressed interest in organizing trade exhibitions to strengthen ties between RMG and textile businessmen of Bangladesh and Taiwan. These exhibitions could create opportunities for two-way trade and ultimately lead to a win-win situation for both countries.
